As an important member of the Human Resources team, the successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing and supporting the ongoing development of the Safety Excellence program for all Fountain Tire business units.
- Ensure that the right resources are in place to maintain high levels of safety for people, products, services and projects, which includes researching, developing, and communicating best practices.
- Lead the Safety recognition programs (COR, Secor, Mecor) in all capacities and for all provinces; establish and maintain relationships with certifying partners, auditors and provincial boards.
- Ensure internal and external audits for all provinces are completed on time with integrity, and ensure the appropriate reports are communicated effectively to all involved.
- Collaborate and assist Managers and Operations in the development and follow up of post audit action plans.
- Be the primary trusted point of contact for the field promoting the Fountain Tire Safety Excellence Program; ensure the tools and resources are documented and accessible for Store Managers.
- Work with Managers to resolve incidents through investigations and the facilitation of factual documentation. Ensure compliance with relevant legislations and regulations, and that appropriate steps of progression are taken.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance regarding OHS legislation across Canada.
- Develop and deliver safety training to the field that is effective, accessible and measurable.
- Build relationships with stores, mine services, retread plants, and distribution centers.
- Assemble and maintain Safety data for program access, analysis, audits, and trend reporting, and develop ongoing strategies to pro-actively address gaps.
- Develop and promote a work environment that is safe, collaborative and respectful.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, and a minimum of 3 - 5 years in a hands-on, frontline Safety environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Certified Auditor status would be considered an asset.
- Several and/or all Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) courses completed.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry specific safety programs.
- Familiarity with different provincial OHS legislation across Canada.
- Strong analytical & decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- A positive, “can-do” attitude and customer focused approach that will enable dealing with challenging situations with integrity, empathy and sincerity.
- Proven experience in the effective coordination of projects from inception through implementation, including maintenance of appropriate documentation.
- Outstanding interpersonal communication, consultation, and coaching skills.
- Superior writing skills demonstrated by current success in drafting materials for diverse audiences.
- Ability to travel to store locations across Western Canada; undertaking maintenance audits and site reviews throughout the year.
